Relational databases for plants and habitat types monitoring under Directive 92/43/EEC (Habitat Directive): an example from Campania (Italy).

The implementation of the Habitat Directive (Dir. 92/43/EEC) entails gathering a large amount field data. As for monitoring activities, along with spatial data (GIS data), tabular regarding habitat, plant and animal species population size, pressures threats acting on them are collected. In this paper we describe two relational databases designed to ensure correct efficient storage habitats listed in Annex I Plant Annexes II, IV V. Databases were Microsoft Access format. both databases, “Lookup Tables” related taxon used avoid replication centralize Data Tables store raw deriving from activities. adopted allow collected standard homogeneous format make entry easier users, reducing input errors. comply mandatory actions art. 11 17 give prompt reply basic requests users. Finally, aim provide citizens and/or other end users all gathered single regional repository, zoological addition.
